This Planetag is cut from a Boeing CH-47 Chinook that was first delivered to the United States Army in September 1968 as a C model serial #68-15814. In 1991 it was then converted to a D model and issued a new serial #91-00234 and assigned to the Army Nation Guard in Stockton, California under Company C - "Delta Schooners". On February 11th, 1998 this was involved in a mid-air collision with a civilian light aircraft. This American twin-engine, tandem rotor, heavy-lift helicopter, developed by American rotor-craft company Vertol and manufactured by Boeing Vertol (later known as Boeing Rotorcraft Systems), is among the heaviest lifting Western helicopters (capable of lifting up to 50k pounds) - as well as one of the fastest.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.
