The Sukhoi Su-22 is a variable-sweep wing fighter-bomber developed from the Su-7 and Su-17. It enjoyed a long career in Soviet, later Russian service and was widely exported to Eastern Bloc, Middle Eastern air forces and Latin America as well as the Su-20.
With a maiden flight in January 1975, the production ended in 1990 after 1020 aircraft. Since then, the type has been in use with more than 15 air forces.
A total of 110 Su-22 were delivered to Poland from 1984 until 1988 (83 Su-22M-4K, 20 Su-22UM-3K, 7 Su-22M-4R).
Poland is meanwhile the last European "Fitter" operator. The Polish fleet is undergoing an upgrade program since February 2015 which will extend the useful life until the mid 2020s.
Our chunks are made out of a main landing gear door from a Polish Air Force "Fitter".
Love the little piece of aviation history. It is not too big andnot too small and looks good on the shelf and is exactly as advertised. Communication was great and shipping was really quick and very reliable. I am alround happy with how it all went. Mny thanks again.
